We are thankful for all those who have been on staff or volunteered at any of our programs or events!  We couldn’t have made any of those successful without you!

Desert Reign is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization.

The organization was founded in 2008.

Our Mission

The mission of Desert Reign is to improve the health and well-being of youth by promoting daily physical activity and proper eating habits.

Our Vision

We believe that Desert Reign participants will learn the importance of an active lifestyle and proper nutrition and attain invaluable leadership skills that will be utilized the rest of their lives.

Our vision is done through a series of Sports & Nutrition Programs throughout the year.

Winter Break Sports & Nutrition Program (2 weeks)
Spring Break Sports & Nutrition Program (1 week)
Summer Break Sports & Nutrition Program (10 weeks)
Saturdays throughout the school year
Track-Break Program at year-round elementary schools

Our Goal

Our goal is simple. We want to equip Southern Nevada’s youth with the knowledge of how to live a healthy, active lifestyle by providing instruction on fitness-related activities and nutritional information. We strive to increase the welfare of the overall community by reaching as many youth as possible to stress the importance of living a healthy lifestyle by:

·         Introducing the benefits of exercise, understand healthy eating, and proper rest.

·         Motivating youth to create personal goals for fitness and proper nutrition.

·         Helping youth develop a lifelong commitment to personal fitness and healthy eating.

·         Display good sportsmanship on a regular basis at home, school, park, community, etc.

Our Team

Mr. Berg

Director

Mr. Berg holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and Health, and received his Master’s degree in Counseling, in May 2010. Mr. Berg holds a Non-Profit Management Certificate from UNLV. Currently Mr. Berg is in his 17th year of teaching physical education in the Clark County School District. His true passion is promoting a healthy and active lifestyle through daily physical activity and proper eating habits. With obesity rates at all-time highs, in March of 2008 he founded Desert Reign Inc., a 501 (c) 3 Domestic Non-Profit organization, and started the Desert Reign Sports & Nutrition Camp. Each year camp takes place over winter break, spring break and summer vacation. 100 plus participants sign up for camp each session. At camp, participants are taught how to live a healthy and active lifestyle through daily physical activity as well as proper eating habits.  Aside from Sports and Nutrition Camp, Desert Reign is actively involved in the Las Vegas community helping fight childhood obesity.

Mrs. LaComb

Instructor

Deb LaComb has been teaching physical education for over 20 years, she is currently in her 28th year teaching. Mrs. LaComb holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and Physical Education. She also holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, and is a certified Adaptive Physical Education teacher.  Aside from her passion for teaching, she is a huge advocate for the American Heart Association and American Alliance for Health. Mrs. LaComb has been coaching a Jump Rope for Heart team for 22 years and they travel around the Clark County School District to perform and promote living a healthy and active lifestyle.  Mrs. LaComb currently is an active member in her profession as well as community; she holds positions on the National Committee for American Heart Association and American Alliance for Health, Physical Education Recreation and Dance, The State of Nevada Association for Health and Physical Education Recreation and Dance.  All her hard work hasn’t gone unnoticed as she was honored as the 2000 Nevada State Physical Education Teacher of the Year.

Ms. Galloway

Instructor

Mrs. Galloway has been teaching elementary school since 2003 in the Clark County School District, holding various positions including teaching 3rd  and 5th grade. Mrs. Galloway holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from UNLV and is currently working on her Master’s Degree in Reading and TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages). She is also a certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor.  Aside from teaching Mrs. Galloway is an active member in the Las Vegas Community as she is a Boy Scout den leader, event and project coordinator for Project Sole and participates in a tutoring program for Clark County students.

Mr. Stefan Berg

Instructor

Stefan Berg holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education, Physical Education and Adaptive Physical Education from The University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Stefan is a member of American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD). He is currently the Head Boys basketball coach at Liberty High School, an assistant coach with the Las Vegas Rugby Academy, Men’s High School VolleyBall team and Middle School Boy’s Basketball. He also has a true passion for rugby as he Co-Founded YoungBloodz 7s Rugby.
